On Saturday we went to
Ed's Easy Diner in
Lakeside shopping centre. We went up to food court looking for KFC and Burger King and were pleasantly surprised to see this relatively new addition....a retro American Diner.
Gareth is in love with anything 50's and 60's so as this was his first trip to
Lakeside we had to eat there. The food was really nice, there isn't a massive selection but they offer various burgers, hot dogs, salads and desserts: everything you would expect from an American Diner. You can view their menu
here. The staff were really nice and everything about the restaurant was authentic. Each table had a mini jukebox where, for 20p, you can select a song which gets added to a queue and played in the restaurant.

The walls are decorated with amusing quotations and you are able to purchase Ed's diner merchandise such as the staff t-shirts and an exclusive Ed's Diner CD. I loved Ed's Diner, there was an amazing atmosphere and we had a really nice family meal. I do think that their location in Lakeside is far too small and a bigger premises would be much more beneficial to the restaurant. We left the restaurant with satisfied stomachs and the daydream of opening our own family run retro American Diner.
